Hey, all you Electra experts out there, I am needing some help identifying my ax. I've owned it now since April of last year and when I finally got around to doing some research on it, I came across this site and was in total awe :hyper: :yeah: I know it's the LP style, but other than that, I don't know much...see, this is my first guitar I've ever owned. The guy I bought it from said it was a '78 model or thereabout. There is no serial number anywhere, unless it's inside with the electronics somewhere. I've even checked behind the neckplate and nothing. It has a tobacco sunburst finish and it's in great shape. It also has the wave headstock and right above the nut on the headstock is a plate that reads 'custom'. I am at work now, so I can't post any pics until tonight, but any ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated. Sami is working on my avatar for me, so I'll have that up soon too :D

Thanks,
Randy

Let me know if you have any ideas on when this one came to life and anything else you may know about it, including the model.

Thanks,
Randy

I think you have a 2245 there. Very long running (for Electra...) model, originally would have had the openbook headstock and more of a Cherry Sunburst finish, evolved into the darker Tobacco sunburst like yours by the late 70's, also with the Fan headstock and Peacesign logo:

I believe your vintage would have had the clear pickguard, as well as the black mounting rings and 'treble/rhythm' plate but there could have been variations. Earlier ones have '2245' stamped into the neck plate, yours with the fan headstock should have a foil sticker on the back of the headstock with model and Serial Number on it. Those stickers just don't fall off, someone would have had to wanted to remove it. Did it come with the original case? I always find myself thinking that a guitar without a serial number is hot, as in stolen, but maybe that's just me! Enjoy, Mike.

Thanks Pro, I checked the back of the headstock for any possible scratches or damage where the serial number might have been and there isn't much. The only possibility is there looks like maybe some dried up glue or something right next to one of the tuning knobs, so like you said, maybe somebody took it off, and very carefully at that. Unfortunately it didn't come with the original case...don't know who the original owner is. :( Thanks again for the info though.

I really wanna slap the guy who said stickers were a good idea.
But, you've got a nice guitar, and I hope you enjoy it!
