Hello and happy holidays everyone-I just aquired what appears to be a 2256 super rock, but with a different twist-maple fretboard and a maple body stripe on the top! Unique model possibly? The fella I bought it from said it was given to him in '73 used from his uncle  ,it does have the early headstock-but I thought the 2256 was introduced in '76? Any info would help-anyone have the apropriate truss rod cover? Can't figure out how to load pics http://i929.photobucket.com/albums/ad13 ... ock001.jpg

here's some pics of my 2270c -but this one wasn't the dark chesnut(had to remove the poly finish, nasty :toopid: )the original bridge is square not hourglass shape, still has the smaller maxon single coil as in others, neck humbucker had open coil(all saved  )-used GFS pickups to replace, pleasently surprised with those

We start seeing the 'cutout' headstock in 1976, so any openbook headstocks predate '76. I'm not too familiar with all the different LP models, but glancing at the index and catalog pages, I don't see anything quite like that, so you've got a rare if not unique example there. The maple fretboard and black block markers are fairly unique also, I can't see exactly that combination in the catalogs. Is there anything stamped on the neck plate? Thanks for sharing.

It's an early one. From what I can see the numerical model numbers were all started early. Around 76 the X-models started, while many numerical models were dropped some hung around until the early 80s.

It's also pretty clear that some models had a late and early version, switching around 76 or so. So this is an early one. My theory is the slant-style logo (Imitating Gibson) were from Fujigen.

Thank you all for your input, wish there were better records kept originally, but I guess that's half the fun. The neck plate does not have a model stamp or serial, only made in Japan-have not had it apart yet,but all appears to be original except for some of the saddles and the vintage Grover tuners  . At first I thought it was a Frankenlectra :-? with the maple fretboard, but the back and fit are a perfect match. She has lots of playwear, poly chips, etc. but plays beautifully and sounds better :D . I've never seen another Electra with the contrasting wood stripe, anybody else?
