My first post!
I have what I think is an '77 X350. Can someone tell me where I would find the serial number? I am considering doing a semi-restore and listing it for sale. One thing I would like to know is if it has original pickups. I've owned it since around '79 but don't remember changing them. ( a little to much rock and roll back in the day LOL!)


I'll post some pics if someone can guide me in that process.

On that one, I think the majority of them would have been on a foil sticker on the rear of the headstock. lots of them are long gone by now....

the x350 was introduced in late '77 and by August '79 they were no longer available...

The Bridge pickup was usually a zebra exposed bobbin humbucker with a black 'open' cover, and the neck was covered and plated gold... even though they are the exact same pickup. If you remove them, you should see a five digit serial/manufacturing number on the bottom of the pickups, usually the same number on each pickup.

If the serial number foil has been removed, there often is a residue mark on the back of the headstock where it once was. This is not a real loss as those serial numbers mean little as far as dating the guitar. Post some pictures if you get the chance, Mike.

Check the cloth battery pulls in the MPC compartment, if they're still there. They sometimes have a date stamped or hand written.

I just bought an Electra x220 SLM serial # 10558 from a pawn shop.What a sweet find.I started playing on 1 of these when I was a teenager and loved it.Now I have found another one.Its like a dream come true to me.I will not sell it.The headstock is open book but with a "spine" cut out instead of just the open pages.Has anyone seen one with this headstock? How do I find out what year it is? I'll post pics..Thanks

That headstock is known as the "cut-out" style and was the transition between the open book style and the wave style. There are most likely several pictures on this site which would show a cut-out. I will try and find one for you. I think this would make it a 1977 model or so but someone else can chime in if I am wrong.

Thanks for the info.The back of my pickups have the # 1 6825 on them.I still can't figure how to post pics on here.
