Thoughts on this one? Possible prototype?

  I also spotted this one and was not certain about it. Looks much like a later Vantage model guitar so maybe it was a prototype that never made production with Electra in numbers but may have made the cut for Vantage which was a later Uncle Matt product made in Korea. A nice example and I like it.

Just to clarify, Vantage was a brand owned by a distributor (Canadian, I think). Matsumoku (Uncle Matt) was a Japanese factory. They made guitars for many brands, including Electra and Vantage. When Uncle Matt closed in 1987, several companies that had sourced guitars from Uncle Matt shifted all or some of their production to Korea where they were made by companies such as Cort and Samik. While it appears that near the end of the Matsumoku factory some guitars were finished in Korea from some or all parts made by Uncle Matt, Uncle Matt never made guitars in Korea.

It's not a production model! It most resembles an Invicta, but I wouldn't call it one. Has a string through hard tail bridge that is uncharacteristic of the slab bodied series, control cover is slightly different from the half moon we see on the Endorsers and X150's, even the half cutaway on the upper bout is not quite right. Hard to believe anyone would be making forgeries, so we have to assume it is a mock-up for production consideration, or something..?

It reminds me of this (probably) one of kind guitar that Steve Marriot is holding on this Magazine Cover. It is a true Electra, a X960 Ultima with a Maple Laminated body, you'll never see another like this:

I'd say this one on eBay is a one of a kind, but that doesn't necessarily make it worth a lot... Go crazy lads, it doesn't do it for me!

I do like the wood grain on the headstock. To me this seems to be something that the people at Electra were messing around with or maybe a special NAMM type show guitar. Maybe Tom Presley can pipe in about this one. I hope someone here does snag it.
