Hey guys,

I cannot find ANYTHING about this Rhoadsesque V that I'm currently eyeing off... I'm suffering from a case of GAS since I haven't bought any new guitars or gear for a while now, and this Electra V might have what I'm looking for.

Can anybody identify this bad boy?

This is an Electa not Electra model and was manufactured for a short time in China I believe but not 100% but somewhere in Indonesian area. I have only seen 1 in my searches and it was a strat style. The Electronics are shabby at best but the wood is bass wood I think. They usually have a good finish but that is about it from what I saw on the strat copy. If you are looking for a guitar to do a complete re-fit on this would be a cheap but usefull body to begin with or for use as a starter guitar. Welcome to the forums and hope the egas finds you some nice Electra models.

It was a nech-thru and everything, and I knew that Electras are pretty cool... darn. No wonder I couldn't find anything about it - I was searching the wrong stuff.

Never mind, now I'm here, an Electra just might find its way into the jam room next to my '85 BC Rich Stealth and late 80s Jackson PS! I'm pretty smitten by these:

You will find that the Electra models are contagious and your egas will run amuck(just look at my collection and see the results of egas...lol). This model plays exceptional and the different combinations for tones are awesome. Tom P hit a home run with the electronics in these models

They're pretty hard to find. The Electra/Westone or Westone Dynasty's are easier to find. They're very similar. If you're into metal and such, I'd shoot for an '85 Westone Dynasty, they have the huge jumbo frets. Oh man do I ever love playing mine. I put a Gotoh floyd on it and a J80c Jackson pickup, it's spot on for metal and hard rock now. That's what's blasting off in my avatar.

I do need an XV3! Some day I'll have one.

My first Electra was an Electra/Westone XV2RD. Absolutely floored me with the quality of the guitar, felt like I'd stumbled upon a hidden treasure or something. I could feel the care that went into it, strange as that sounds. And just like Arthur said, it was addicting.

Just in case anyone's interested...

Little known facts regarding the 1984 Electra/Westone Dynasty vs. the 1985 Westone Dynasty:
Spanning the distance from bottom of the heel to top of fretboard, the 1985 is a total of 5mm thicker than the 1984.
Comparing to the 1984, the 1985's heel is 3mm thicker.
Comparing to the 1984, the 1985's neck including fretboard (where the neck bolts in the pocket) is 2mm thicker.

So that makes the 1985's action 5mm thicker at the neck pocket, not counting the taller frets that it has. Doesn't sound like much, but when doing lead work around the neck pocket you really feel the difference between them.

The 1984 Electra/Westone Dynasty has thinner medium frets.
The 1985 Westone Dynasty has huge Jumbo's.

The 1984 neck pocket has a thin layer of wood spanning the distance between the neck heel and neck pickup cavity. The 1985 production model has that wood removed, they routed it out (as it would commonly crack).

The 1984's red color is lighter than the 1985, comparatively it's slightly more orange and pink (although still distinctly red), almost like a fiesta type red color.
The 1985's red color is a darker and deeper, like a blood red shade.
