this bolt neck started life as a sunburst (fireglo) and someone refinished it after a neck repair, but never completed it as the neck repair failed...

I redid the worst of the 2 cracks (gorilla glue and then drop filled with superglue), but the maple has separated from the walnut strip in the neck behind the first few frets as well... the second crack is minor, and the direction of both cracks was good as it goes along with the pressure on the neck, so it's still very stable. depending on how it feels, I may try to fix the separation, but it'll be a little tricky, but I believe it's doable.

these early Corsairs did not use copies of the RIC pickups/surrounds so it made this a little more difficult.

not wanting to route out the body to accept real RIC pups, I opted to reuse the pup/pickguard from a Kingston bass (that was used as parts to fix up a PCM Electra short scale jazz bass) and trimmed it for the bridge position, reusing the stock surround holes.

a real RIC pup would not work in the neck position either because of the flange on the pup, and due to the bolt neck construction, could not be able to be mounted. the neck pup is just a chrome covered mini-humbucker.

the pickguard is from AllParts, and is for the '74-later RIC 4001 basses with the 1" neck pup spacing. (Earlier ones had only a half inch between pup and neck....) I had to slightly enlarge the pup opening to get the mini-hum to fit.

the bridge came off my neck through corsair, after it got the bridge from my outlaw bass, when it got a new hipshot bridge.....

pup selector is from the neck thru corasir, as it got all new electronics. the black corsair also got new CTS pots, new jack/plate, new knobs on their way as well.

I made the truss rod cover out of an old parts pickguard I had... I think it was an actual RIC guitar pickguard... the Electra logo is a cut-vinyl decal.

the 2 tuners so far were supposedly from a Japanese Squire P-bass. they are identical in every way to the tuners on the Electra Phoeninx bass neck I have, and the replacement tuners that are on my neck thru corsair.
they are also identical to the fender '57 RI tuning pegs.... as seen here... http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-57-RI-Fende ... dZViewItem

they line up perfectly with the holes in the headstock....

I still need to finish the job on the neck, and put some paint on it....
