Last summer, I found a walnut Invicta at Uncle Sam's in Columbus, Oh. Fell in love with it very quickly. Unfortunately, I've run into a problem.

Recently, I've bumped up to 11's and I would like to take a little relief out the neck to compensate. But the truss rod is maxed out. What would you all suggest doing?

Don't take my word for it, but I seem to remember my repair guy telling me that on certain rod styles you can back the nut off, add a washer (or spacer) and essentially reclaim some of the threads, if you know what I mean. I would never attempt it myself without knowing more and making sure the spacer fits, but take it to a tech or at least pick his brain and see if that is feasible. Best of luck, Mike.

As Proendorser stated you can add a washer to get a more adjustability from a rod but before I tried that I would try to see if it is just crud on the threading. To do so I would loosen the strings and see if you can back off pressure on the nut. If so, remove it and clean it and the threaded portion with naptha (lighter fluid) or acetone. Put a small amount of lithium grease or other suitable luberacant on the nut and snug it up. Tune her up and see if she will adjust as needed.

If the nut is frozen, get some penatrating oil and put some on the nut and the threads. Use as littile as possible and have some naptha or acetone around to clean up any excess that gets on the wood. Carefuly try and remove it. If that still does not work, you can try carefuly heating the nut with a soldering iron. Be sure you have cleaned up all the penatrating oil first. If that dos not work...take it to a pro. Good luck.

I was able to find a couple washers that fit, and they did in fact give the nut new life. I appreciate your suggestions.
