What about this? Seems like if the readings are correct - they'd be UBC.

Dunno jead. Two things bug me on that one.

First, I cannot say if the UBC design also was wound into 2 wire humbs. My Genesii (plural for Genesis??) all have coiltaps on the bucker and that means they are 4 wires.

Second, I can't speak to other Mats badges, but on a Westone the only guit I have seen that pole / bar combo humb is the Pantera x300. What is escaping me at the moment is I cannot recall MMK45's ever being spoken about or written of being part of that build. I suppose that is because I have never felt the urge to check into an x300 seriously.

Hopefully Corsair will pick up on this as he has acquired an x300 just in the past 6 months, if memory serves.

As far as the readings go I am only guessing here, but if a true UBC (as I understand the winding ratios) is 25% / 75% wouldn't one reading be greater by a factor of 3?

I gotta brush up on my research again, I am obviously grasping at straws on that last...

I'm agreeing that the 2 wire doesn't seem as if it can be UBC. Can you even coil tap a two wire? Seems to me it can't really be done at all. Maybe with push/pulls which I have zero wiring experience with? I think the 5.6 reading is actually just one side of the HB - I've got a pair of 2 wire MMK45's right here on my desk that read exactly the same as this guys measurements except I get 11.9 bridge and 11.6 neck on the reds and around 6 on both the whites. I'm gonna call BS on this fella's claim that they're UBC.

X300 is MMK45, but I cannot recall what the wiring is; it's coil split so I assume either a 3 wire or 4 wire set up.

I seem to recall seeing an APII of some style having the bar/pole setup... one of the MM series perhaps??

By numbers do you mean markings on them, or resistance readings, or ??

Sorry to be late answering this: The resistance. If I recall correctly the proportions were more like 55/45 than 75/25. I will dig into the parts box and check later this week.

From what I have read on online catalog scans my memory is that one side had at least double the winds of the other. I gotta find that link...

Thanks for the info, John. I suspected that with the x300 but was not certain.

So I was backreading older posts and lookie what I found on our very own site...

Love to know who Paul was posting to and fro with. Must be a member long gone now who apparently knew Tom pretty well, or at least had more than a passing acquaintance with.
