I just got this a couple weeks back from one of the members off the forum. You can look as I think there may be pictures still out there of it before. Here are some quick "after" pics taken with the iphone. Not the best pics, and the white background made the colors really dark so I tried to adjust them to be closer (but they are off, what can I say?). I said I'd post pics so here is how it looks now. A friend of mine did the gluing and a little bit of filling. Some of it has yet to fully dry so I will try to touch up and flatten some. Also, my replacement volume pot is wonky, so I will replace my replacement, but this had about half the parts on it, the other half were replacements. The pickups I confess are a set of PAFish pickups I had from a PRS SE model (around 9K and 8K windings). They are not exact but are the right spirit for the guitar (look and feel pretty right). The guitar is lighter than you'd think. I did replace the bridge on it as well, and fixed a bent switch, replaced the other, and replaced one MPC socket. I haven't tried the MPC part yet. I have to replace the volume pot I just put in, so I will deal with that first! Too late tonight.

My friend Drew Schneider glued the cracked body at the neck socket joint - he gets the credit for that. He did a bit of finishing repair (best he could, and some needs to dry a bit more and be leveled out). He commented tonight when he dropped it off that the way I had the bridge on it when he strung it up it was already at the right height and fully intontated. Man, got lucky there, I could never do that on purpose if I tried. He was serious too, he has a strobe tuner and does this stuff all the time. He got his Sunn Model T amp fixed too, so he was a happy camper (man that amp is a BEAST).

Really quick comments about the guitar, it plays very well. The pickups sound good in it. Didn't test the MPC yet, and have a bad volume pot in it (or wiring issue, but seems like a bad pot). Haven't investigated yet. The guitar is fairly light feeling, and I didn't expect that. I didn't weigh it. Nice feeling neck. I just took new pictures outside after cleaning it (still some wax residue on it, white specs, white in some of the scratches). I think I can hide some or the cracks even better with a little bit of work, but first I will get everything working before I worry too much about cosmetics.

Here are the pics:

The LW model is so unique anyway - but what a great job -

I'm sure you are going to enjoy and put it to good use.

Congrats.

Welcome to the world of Chunky Neck profiles! I love my Leslie West, I'm selling off a bunch of my collection, but the 'Tuna' is staying right here! Cheers, Mike.

Changed the brand new pot I had put into it with another, and that was my problem. At first I thought I might have made a mistake, but I couldn't fine any, so it was the brand new pot after all. It plays pretty well and I have to say the pickups sound good in it too. And I really like chunky necks so this is very nice. On top of that, it is fairly light too - almost like an SG - and that I didn't expect but is a pleasant surprise. I will need to put a battery in it and see if the modules work. I'll do that soon too.

I just updated the pics with some outside taken with a digital camera instead of the indoor ones with an iphone. It looks lighter in the sunlight.

Looks more Red in the sunlight. I'm glad you like the design, and hopefully you didn't spend a ton of time on his amp in your barter scheme. A true Rare Bird, congrats.

yes it does look more red doesn't it? The sunlight brings it out and some may be the camera too.

I did well on the amp, it was an easy fix for a change. I need some more of those.

Thanks. Take Care!

An update, I picked up and played it a bit yesterday. I bought it without the original pickups so I had to put something in. I had this set that came out of a PRS SE model, about 8 and 9K windings, they had the right look so I used them. I have to say the guitar looks, sounds, and plays great - even with the replacement pieces on it. I really like the overall light weight and the chunky neck profile. I know it will never be a real collector piece, but I am happy just to have one. It is a keeper!
