Hello,
It has been a long time since this posting. I have resolved part of this mystery. I think the Wing series pickups in my guitar were direct copies of DiMarzio. I acquired a DiMarzio that was removed from an Ibanez guitar. It has the same hex pole pieces, and looks identical in every respect. It reads 9.29 so it may be a bit hot, however I think I can tone it down by changing out the caps, it currently has .022. I will start with .047 if that does not suffice I can move up to .1
So all is not lost.

The cap is only going to change how the tone control works - where the roll off is going to occur. It won't change the tone when the treble is turned all the way up.

9K won't be much different than what was in there (probably around 8K). Can't say what the wind is, the wire type, or the magnet type, or the charge on it - but still - you should be in the ballpark. I put an Air Norton in mine in the bridge, and an anniv PAF in the neck (my reissue) - but they have traditional slugs/poles like a PAF rather than the hex. I believe the PAF Pro might get you close looks and sound wise.

Hello,
Thank You for the reply. When I got the guitar someone had tried to install a Seymour Duncan (JBJ). It would not work because the screws were to long, and there was not enough depth in the neck pocket. Rather than alter the guitar I decided to change the pickup. I've had the pickup for quite sometime, but had never compared them side to side before. The Washburn neck pickup and the DiMarzio were almost identical in comparison, also it is something I had on hand. If it works great , if not at least the space is filled for the time being.

Hate to back up on the topic here, but I can affirm that Daions used the same (structurally) pickups. I've had several "Wings" over the years, all but one had the Tri- mount pickups. Same with the Daions. I've had occasion to disassemble pickups from both brands, once when I had one of each... same pickups, and I also would put my money on Gotoh. I really like the design of these. Not much of a difference sound wise, very PAF, not hot, hot pickups. I double checked all this today on a Daion Power Mark XX I'm just finishing up. Not as much punchy as some, but plenty of power and a very nice full tone. I'm thinking a lot of owners felt they needed hotter pickups judging from the number I've seen that didn't have the stock pickups anymore. They came in both cream and black.

I had to track some of these down last year and it took me a while to find some. But you can find a pair here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Washburn-Pickup ... 339e466817

They're at $10 currently, no rims or hardware. Good luck there!

Hello,
I installed the DiMarzio pickup yesterday. It seems to blend in with the neck nicely, being about the same output.
Another thing about the guitar is that it will probably be on the bright side anyway as there is a lot of maple used in the construction. The neck radius is 9.5 which is different from any of my other guitars. All in all I am very pleased.
