it's alive and playable... haven't plugged it in yet. still need to get it tuned properly...

There were so many areas of finish issues that I decided to leave it in it's raw repaired form as a reminder of the rough life it's had....
so it's not pretty, but it sure looks nice completed to me

Looking good. The bridge position looks a bit too far back to the tail piece. I guess you will find out when you tune her up. Very nice save.

Yeah, that was just a rough placement. It actually is pretty close. It's at 14'' and I think i need to be just under 13-7/8'' maybe...

I think i have a ground problem yet...

Did you run a wire to the tailpiece?

Yes. Reused the stock one. I think i fixed it. The way the jack was I think the hot was shorted

let's see... while trying to get it tuned properly discovered that the one support dowel in the body was not enough and found the spot where the other one was missing. so... cut another out of a similar sized hardwood dowel and got installed/glued. tuned up much better this time. Watched some videos and learned a few two finger chords before much needed sleep. will keep playing around with it to see how it does.

For those of you that play, how high do you like your action. most stuff I've found during searches is that it's preferred to be on the high side?

As with acoustic guitars, many mando players like a higher action so they can get more volume. If you are just having fun at home, I would get it as low as you can so it doesn't buzz. After you have played it for a while, you may want to raise it.

Yeah, I had mine quite high for volume before I amplified it, then I went as low as I could which made playing it a lot easier!
