Hey guys,

I have an Electra hollowbody, quite similar to an Epiphone casino. It has the mother of pearl X on the headstock, so I believe that makes it one of the PCM variety.

My situation is this: one of the tuning machines broke down a few days ago. I purchased a set of grovers, and after filing out the peg hole to fit in the machine, I found out that the peg itself is too short to make it out all the way through the nut and washer. Turns out, the peg on the original tuner was about a half millimeter longer than the standard grovers. I've tried several varieties and brands of tuners, but they all suffer from the same problem.

Does anyone know if there is a supplier of tuning machines who sells a set of tuners with extra-long pegs? What are my other options? All I can think of so far is to either find someone with metal working tools to sand down the nut and/or washer, or to take some sandpaper and physically sand down the back of the headstock by .5mm. Neither of these things I would really like to do...

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If it's the type of tuner that has a washer and a.. sort of nut with a collar on it that goes down in the tuner hole and screws in to the tuner...
Then just install them without the washer. Or go to the hardware store and get the thinnest one you can find that fits.
