Hello all,

If you recall.....I'm the guy who "Squired" my X610 bass. (see pics @ viewtopic.php?t=3100)

I'm having some flanger issues. They are similar to the issues addressed by another member several posts down.......an extremely high pitched squeel on the flanger side. I have two modules.....a bass expander (left side) and the flanger (on the right.)

Does anyone know of a person who can troubleshoot and repair these things? If so, please reply to bsur1@alltel.net

If your turn the Flanger control pot all the way to 10 it will always "squeal" or make those "spaceship?" sounds;

I usually run mine on 5 or less.

The real setting is on the face of the MPC-10 Flanger module itself:

Thank you for the reply. In the over 12 years I've had this bass and module, I have never changed the settings. I opted for using the knobs instead of messing with the device itself. I'll take a look and see what it's set to. Maybe it has always been too high and I just never noticed before.

Regardless, I will report back with whether it works or not.

LEIA! That's her! I remember her from a few years back. She was VERY helpful in helping me purchase a couple of modules.....the bass expander and flanger. I thought I remembered that she also repaired them (as a sideline thing) or knew someone who did.

I just couldn't remember her name to save my life! Thanks for that, too!

Obviously I haven't looked here in a while, but to my knowledge, the main thing that goes wrong with the flangers are the capacitors go bad. Sometimes they burn! But it can make it do all sorts of wierd things. If that is the problem, have them replaced. They are very small, and look like "tear drops" and are colors. They have a + and - side, so make note of that, and the values, and solder in correct replacements. See if your problem goes away. About half the flanger modules need this done from my experience, maybe even more than half.

Be sure you get the right values. If you know someone that fixes vintage pedals, they would be the ones to go to. If they have done a lot of them, they will likely know what to do. Unfortunately, they will have to have the guitar to test it!

That sounds like a very plausable casue. My luthier knows a guy who repairs amps and pedals. I'll take it to him.
