I am SO heartbroken. Stupid me set my X260 down to go turn off my amp. Next thing I hear is my other guitarist saying, "Dave your guitar fell...I think I heard a snap too."

I look over and time slowed down to a crawl:






So now I'm on the hunt to get it fixed. There is no way in @#ll I'm letting this guitar go....

whoa... that's really terrible man, our hearts go out to you. You'd think that a five peice Maple opposing grain neck could take anything. I have a guitar tech up here that will chip out a canal and then fill it with Carbon Fiber when he has to repair a headstock like that. It's repairable, but it won't be pretty. Best of luck, our thoughts are with you... (it's kind of like a death in the family man...)

Hopeyou can find a god repairman, or maybe a new neck. I'd keep the old neck either way, for Serial# and to say "I kept the original."
Or is is a set neck?

heartbreaking to be sure...

but all is not lost.... somebody on this forum or the matsumoku forum (X189 ??) is into fixing guitars with broken necks... (there is a photo set documenting the rebuilds too)... anyways... as i recall, all he does is wet down the crack put the gorilla glue to it then binds it / clamps it tight till dry... again, if i recall correctly, he said that the repaired joint is so strong, that that is not where it would break if the same accident were to befall it again... it definitely looks repaired, never as good as before it happened, but definitely slavageable

I would look into it if you are firmly attached to this guitar

It gave me a chill to see that but it is repairable. I was just reading a book that was covering neck repairs and so I will pass this on from it. Take off most of the string tension but keep the strings on and save any loose pieces of wood. I think you have one of the easier repairs of theis type. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that Sami =(. If you decide to go the gorilla glue route I have one piece of advice: If the Truss Rod might get glue on it, then coat it in petroleum jelly. It doesn't look like you'd have a problem with that, but a little petroleum jelly can save you a big headache. Best of luck!

Thanks for the support I found prices from $60 to $100. I think I'll go the $100 route because they are businesses and not some guy that does work on the side that I've never met. I don't want to end up having to sue some guy for falsely caliming my guitar!

I've already looked into doing it myself and using Gorilla Glue. I don't have a garage, so I can't. Plus, if I have to break the headstock all the way off first, I'd rather not see or hear it.

When it fell, I didn't hear the crash or the snap. My band mates did and they said it was like a bone breaking (which it is!)

It's back!!!

I'm so happy!! It's been fixed for a few weeks now (I was out for the holidays). Now the next thing on my list is another X260!!

Good to hear you got it fixed.
That's thing with set necks, you either get them fixed or you trash the guitar.
Which, at the sacrifice of some sustain, is one reason why I prefer bolt necks.
But hey, either way, you got yours fixed, and that's all that matters. Any pics of the repair job?

From Google - did a search in for Electra Guitar neck "ebay";

"Vintage ELECTRA electric guitar NECK, black, circa 1977" shows up;

Item location: Harrison, Arkansas, United States ;

Current bid is 67.77; pics look good; has the wave headstock Electra inlay there seems to be intact; although it has the dot inlay on the neck; actually looks new or has been really cleaned up;

Wasn't someone in the Forum looking for one of these not too long ago?
