Has anyone tried to use a non-Electra effect circuit board and set it up to work in the MPC cavity? I've got an old MPC overdrive I've been trying to bring back to life, but now I'm wondering if I can subsitute another (if it fits in the space), and just wire it up to the strip connector. Possible?

Yes, almost anything is possible. Check out my old thread on this topic:

Of particular relevance is the Fuzz Face type circuit that was built directly on the Overdrive circuit board.

I have also used other circuit boards piggybacked on an MPC module, such as the analog delay from here:
