I don't know about the chain as a whole, but all the local Radio Shack stores are closing, and Evansville had several of them at one time. I went to my local one yesterday to get a right angle phone plug for a speaker cable to a fender amp and half of it was empty and there was the one dismal dude behind the counter. Sounds like they may be filing bankruptcy and so will avoid paying anyone any severance. That is pretty bad because there are local guys that have worked there 20-30 years and will get NOTHING. All of this while paying their bigshots retainers to stay on. Sad, Sad, Sad. Shame on you Radio Shack. Screw the little guy and use that money to offset the retainers you pay your leadership that got you in this situation to begin with...

I will really miss them, as I shopped there for convenience probably something every month or so. Get your "Flapper" MPC switches NOW while you still are able. I would always go there when they had a pack of fuses, resistors, switches, lamp bulbs, capacitors, and in this last case Jacks. They were my convenience goto place. We still have Hutch and Sons, and they have a much larger selection of electronic components but not all the same things. They are several times farther away too, and have more common business hours so it won't be as convenient to get parts. I am not cutting down Hutch and Sons at all, I use them too fairly frequently. But I will miss radio shack. Radio Shack has been a goto store for me since the 70s. Need to adapt one cable to antoher? You went to Radio Shack.
