Hey guys, I'm looking at a guitar with cigarette burns
on the peg head. The face of the head stock is black and the back and sides are maple. It looks deep enough that it puddled the clear and black on the top. Doesn't look impossible, you guys ever fixed any burns?

Turned out it was not a burn. Its a small cut of some sort that should be fixable.

I sanded a top and tapped off the logo, and sprayed black then clear on one and it turned out pretty good. I know so I can see it, but it is not really that noticeable (that was the one with the headstock repair).

This one is looking like an easy fix. (not an Electra) I'm thinking of using the black super glue they have on stew mac and just filling it in and sanding. I'll take some before and after when I do the repair. I've been looking for an excuse to get some of the stew mac super glue kits and this looks like the one. I have other guitars with issues that may benifit from this as well.

Heres what I'm talking about, theres a video clip where they mix some clear glue with a drop of color tint and fill the area and sand it.

If it doesnt look good I can always sand it out. Now mind you I dont have 50 different kinds of sand paper like ole Dan so I'm not going that in depth with it.

I have used black super glue to fill in chips on headstocks and black guitars. You can use the glue and hardener spray to help it set quickly. You can tape around it or on the edges of your razor blade and scrape it flat. Then use the different papers to finer and finer until you get it down. Near the end, you can use a "swirl remover" or even possibly a "metal polish" to get it closer and finish off with some good old finer cut and finally wax. Not usually hard, just takes a good deal of work/effort. Sometimes it turns out very nicely. I had to do some fills on my headstock some of the finish chipped where it snapped. When I was done, it looks great. I knew what I was looking for and I could barely see it. Someone that didn't know about it may not have noticed.
