My Phoenix X189JB seems to have a weak bridge pickup... or are they just that way? The neck pickup is very solid, but when I switch to the bridge pickup there is a noticeable drop in output compared to the neck.

Any input? Maybe needs to be re-magnetized, or possibly just not as hot of an output.

Well, duh... I just adjusted the pickup height and that seemed to make a big difference. Probably the answer! Sorry to clutter the forum....

Unlike most modern guitars, most 80's Japanese manufacturers used the same pickup in both the Neck and Bridge positions. There is more string 'movement' over the Neck position than the Bridge, so that area puts out more volume, and is why most guitars nowadays have a more powerful pickup in the bridge to compensate for that. I usually bury the neck pickup and raise the bridge pickup to compensate. Your mileage may vary. Cheers, Mike.
