I think he is correct in it being a 1989 model.
That means made in Korea.

These have nothing in common with the Japanese counterparts
as far as quality goes.

Take a close look behind the neck by the plate. It looks cheap.

Wait for a real Westone. They come up often.

Somebody correct me if I don't have it right but I think the cut off time
was around 87-88 when the Japan factory put out their last guitar.

The Westone script could be a give away too.

construction looks nearly identical to my Korean made ('88) Kramer Striker....

It is almost identical to the Spectrum II from the 1989 Westone catalogue, except the script on the headstock is different.
