This is a nice looking X330 at a fair price, sorry no modules, but may be a supercharged model as it has a sticker on the knob but hard to tell from the pics. Will need a new batwing on the MPC switch but that is an easy fix. Hard to believe it has no bids. :look: :look: :look:

I was going to buy this guitar, but the owner seemed a little testy during communications so I passed. Also, he has some negative feedback. I did inquire about the the first knob and verified it is some sort of Electra sticker on there. Can anyone explain what a "supercharged" model is? I have never heard of this in reference to the MPC.

The 'Owner' is a dealer, here's the same guitar listed on Gbase:

http://www.gbase.com/gear/electra-mpc-l ... 0-sunburst

He's probably not making much on it and like a lot of music stores (other than Guitar Center and Musicians Friend) having a tough time keeping his doors open man.

Here is a thread to Tom Presley himself about the Super Charger:

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4682

In which he writes he can't recall what it did. Within the thread Thorny includes some cool (and rare) scans of the mod with instructions which make some pretty hard to prove claims, including that you should hear more output (orly? how's that possible?), it's a good read. The bottom line is the pots are swapped and some resistors are added (ultra says the resistors help with 'popping' when the MPC is engaged), but most players (myself included) have not been able to hear too much of a difference.

I still say its worth 4 bills, and who knows after Jacks book comes out, these could really go up in value, especially fairly clean examples like this one. Just sayin'. Do as you see fit, don't buy it on my recommendation! Cheers, Mike.

I installed the Supercharger kit on my X340 around 1978 or so; I really bought it because I believed what the instructions said it would do; my X330 is stock with no SC kit; both work fine;
The X340 seems to be just a little hotter; both sound great.

I like this exchange on the negative feedback:

FB was meant for this seller.

To be fair, when you sell two thousand items you're going to come across some dissatisfied people.

I'm currently thinking about whether I want to bid or not. I have eight hours left to decide.

I'm on it. If anybody wants it, they will have to beat my usual Electra bid.

You gotta stay up later Jack, sorry. Have a look at the latest X330 on eBay I posted the link for in the auction thread. A little more money, but wow it is nice with the plastic still on the pickguard and both modules.

I went to bid and ended up just putting $350 in. The clownburst aspect to the back just kept nagging at me. I will go look at the new one.

For some reason, I suddenly woke up and logged on with a little over a minute left in the auction. Not sure why but something made me bid on this guitar which I have been trying to talk myself out of buying since the first time the seller listed it and received no bids. Should have jumped on it then and saved a little money. Then the nicer one shows up as a suggestion from eBay on the end of auction page. I would have probably bought that one at twice the price had I seen it first. It is also a 1982 model with a little more grain in the finish. The seller said he received an offer on the supercharger knob of $100 and a regular knob as a replacement from a friend. Maybe I can make the same deal if I am lucky.

Keep us informed if you make a move on that one Jack.

So you got a X330 for half the price of the newly listed one..? I think you did pretty good man. I know that everyone wants a minty guitar, but two things come to mind. Firstly, with a really clean guitar, I find myself almost not wanting to use or touch it, thinking that I'm going to put a nick on it, and secondly, my favorite and best players are all guitars that have seen some road time.

For investment purposes, I guess you do want a really clean example, but I don't typically buy a guitar to resell later (personally), I'm looking for something I can bond with and learn about. Tell us how she sounds when it shows up, Mike.
