The nice X340 I recently won in an eBay auction arrived yesterday and my excitement was quickly transformed to disappointment upon discovering a nasty body crack just below the rear strap button extending all the way into the effects compartment. Fortunately, the seller (starpro23) agreed to accept the return and issue a refund, but claims the crack was not there when the guitar left his house. The guitar was inside one of the more sturdy rectangular Electra cases, packed well, and delivered in an unmolested cardboard box. Does anyone think temperature fluctuations during shipment could have caused an invisible fracture to become an obvious gap? It is the only explanation I have since there are no marks to suggest the guitar was dropped or struck by anything. I offered to buy the modules for $220 and return the guitar with case at my expense, but the seller declined. In any case, just be aware should this one pop up again on eBay. I doubt the crack would affect playability, and overall the guitar was in otherwise nice original condition with working phaser and overdrive, but probably still worth a little less than the $550 I paid and hope to recover. I have some pics of the damage and if anyone is interested I will email them.

I guess the search will continue for a nice wave headstock X340.

That's a definate shame. I feel for you....I been lookin one of those myself and would be extremely disappointed in having to send one back.

I feel excactly like you... when the Electra Violin Bass (Shortscale) comes here (Greece) with broken neck !!!
