Hey guys. I am a new member here. I have just recently gotten into Electra and Westone guitars. The story as to why and how is rather long. But I've been hunting them recently, and I just found this... I don't think I will buy it, simply because I don't know enough about them yet. The price seems rather reasonable though, and I thought someone here may be interested:

So that I know for the future. What do y'all think? Good deal?

Welcome Aboard, and feel free to tell us your long winded stories, we love 'em. A run down of your current and past models is always entertaining too.

A couple observations, first, I would have never caught that one listed in the vintage consumer electronics category, so they'll probably be little or no competition (had you not brought it to our attention!). Secondly, the pickups have been changed out, which for some is not that big a deal. Third it looks like the EQ has been removed, if you look closely at the rear control cover, there are no screws on the two holes in the center which would normally be holding the printed circuit board there. It looks pretty well used, lots of wear and tear, but besides the aesthetics these guitars can take it. The X250 is pretty rare, and one of my favorites, although this one has been modded. Also, the truss rod cover is not stock, its wooden and should be black plastic, no biggie.

As comparison, we regularly see the bolt neck and rather basic Workingman X280 and X290 go for $225-$250, so this one at $190 is a good deal as it is a set neck, hopefully the coilcut and phase switches are still connected. The $50 shipping is a little steep, but it does come with a case which is always nice. Overall I think its a pretty good deal. The MMK45's come up regularly if you wanted to put the pickups back to stock (although there are like 5 versions of the 45's out there). The EQ board is rare, good luck trying to get one, and wiring it up successfully if you ask me.

Thanks for the eagle eyes, and don't be a stranger! Mike.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. I thought it seemed a good deal, especially with the hard case included. Like I said, I don't plan on purchasing it. I want to do more research before I really start throwing money into this :). If I was planning to purchase it, I would've kept that listing to myself. Since I'm not though, I figured sharing it with people who will truly appreciate it is the right thing to do. :)

Even with the flaws Mike pointed out - thats an awfully tempting guitar. If the circuit board is there it could most likely be fixed if you have lots of time and patience.
