Yeah I saw this one, but didn't want to call attention to it! Well, the cat's out of the bag now, and it'll probably go for more than I want to shell out for one, and frankly this one's been rode hard and put up wet by the looks of it (read as pretty rough...).

I contacted the seller who didn't seem to know much about these, and is probably a pawn broker. The pointy spots are roughed up liberally and if you look at the back of the neck I can't rule out that this one's headstock hasn't been broken off, it looks like there is a crescent mark in the photo of the back of the headstock. Still all in all a very rare model.

Whomever snags this, make sure you send the seller this link before he ships:

viewtopic.php?f=26&t=1748&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

which is X189 saga of a X910 damaged in shipping. These mahogany necks are fragile and the cases blow, the result is many of these guitars have been broken during shipment. Make sure the headstock and neck are secure before the case is sealed. Just my two (jealous) cents, Mike.

Well dang it, I've faded in the last furlong, that was my top bid that's now surpassed :D

Final price was $810 before shipping. Which could be seen as reasonable considering how seldom you see them. This one was shall we say, well loved, and I would expect a cleaner example to go even higher.

If anyone here nabbed it, do everything in your power to get the seller to pack it adequately, seller seemed pretty clueless when I contacted him. Key here is to get the neck and headstock totally wedged in the case so no movement is possible if it gets dropped on any side. Even if it costs you extra, it'll be worth it to see it safely arrive, Mike.

I am now.

<----Check the av.

I'm busy reading thru old threads to come up to speed.

I'll post some current pix of the 910 very soon, it's going to need a little attention, but it's in fine shape.

The good news is it shipped fine bubble-wrapped in the OHSC(?). There are a few more scratches than I'd hoped for, but the headstock seems to be unharmed. I'd had the same concern as a previous poster.

Thanks,

Those are nice HUGE pictures... thanks! Probably the clearest shots I've ever seen of one. These were seeming so scarce, I was beginning to think they were just an urban legend. You are one of only two Forum Members (that I know of...) that own one, you should feel pretty untouchable man! I would guess (pure conjecture here) that they probably only made 300-500 of those babies, and so many have been broken, I'd be surprised if even half that many survived.

I see some separation on the headstock, it looks like there were some definite problems with this neck design, had it been in production longer that probably would have been addressed. I raise my glass to your survivor, enjoy, Mike.
