That is one heck of a great save Jead. I am Happy to see her back in playing condition again. When I first saw the listing I was worried she would end up as firewood and she has to much beauty for that. Great work as I would never have the skills to attempt anything near this one. Now she has legit mojo as a survivor and still looks and plays great so I would think it does not get much better than this. Enjoy the fruit of your labors and talent. Great save.

I think it's going to get even better Arthur. I've got a good color match stain for the headstock and I think all the finish chipping is contained now. I'm still hoping the original tuners show up.

Just saw this after a long weekend;

Great work in resurrecting your guitar; hats off to you.

Well, I'm as done as I'm going to be.... unless I get crazy and redo the headstock again (possible). :blush: :toopid:
A couple before/after headstock and neck joint pics. I changed out the Pings for Grovers which are better IMO and more appropriate. Never did come up with the original style tuners but I'll keep my eyes open.

The heal is actually much cleaner than the photo shows - most of the weird stuff in the pic came up pretty well.

I had hoped the back of the headstock would turn out better but it seems the stain I used migrated under the finish and darkened up areas so the color match became a problem. I could take it all down again but I'd lose the s/n and I don't want to do that so IU'll live with it as is. After a few weeks the neck has remained solid and I think it plays and looks very good.

Unfortunately, I can't justify keeping 2 Elvins so I believe I'll offer the trapeze for sale. PM me if interested.

So, you're keeping the one you just resurrected? Cool.

I am - I guess the effort I put in attached me to it. I know the guitar is solid and in good shape - others may feel iffy about it and I really don't want the hassle of explaining or hand holding. Also, I wouldn't want to hear the inevitable moaning over stuff that's sold on ebay brings. I like the look of the trapeze tailpieces but prefer a stop tail overall. I REALLY like the pre-wave headstock on the trapeze too but you can't have everything.

That is fantastic workmanship. The guitar will make you a great axe as you have poured the effort into it to save it from the woodpile or scrapyard. Looks nice and the mojo gives it character. Great job. :up: :up: :up:
