Congrats JD,I was in until I thought I was bidding against Mike(Proendorser),dropped out at $480-was prepared to go much higher.
JD is right, end time on these auctions is everything for max money-middle of the day in a work week usually doesn't pay off.
PM sent on the fuzz :D
Joe

Congrats Jead. Anything under $500 is a great price for one of these. I think the finish looks in great shape save for that patch on the side, and like I said, mine has a number of patches like that, so I think something was defective in that finish that makes it come off in big chunks. A rare guitar with some nice old growth Mahogany, a distinctive neck heal and a neck that is noticeably bigger than most Electra offerings, I hope you like it.

I had a bid on this one, but not a serious one, and I too thought it would go higher, so again I say this was a good score in a month where we've seen some pricey auction endings.

Joe, I thought you already had a X120..? If you ever think about getting rid of it, I know Ultrasonic (in your neighborhood) has been looking for one for a while!

Thanks everyone - I'm very happy to have landed this one! It's one of the ones I thought I'd pursue forever and never quite manage to get. Many of you know I'm not a huge fan of the 5 way rotary ( I like the sounds, but hate the twisting of the knob) but also a big MPC fan, so with this guy I get the best of both worlds and the uniquely Electra body style too. I really like the neck on my X330 and it's pretty substantial so I'm guessing I'll have no issues there - So you X120 owners out there - I'm thinking this model is kind of a set neck x280/x290 with MPC. Would that be a close comparison?

Jead, you just described a X960 Ultima... exactly. While the controls are similar, including the 3-way pickup selector switch, I think the Leslie West is a more interesting body style, and much rarer guitar in general. Given the choice, I'd take the West over the Ultima, if only for the Mahogany body.

You're right. I've had 3 Ultima's - every one a beauty - but for some reason I seem to have fallen away from guitars with coil split and phase reverse (except for my Ibanez 2619 - and I do love power eq's and X140 style single coil fat switches). I can't really explain but I guess I just tend to find a sound or tone I like and just ride it to death.

The reason I'm (prematurely?) equating the X120 with Workingman models is that I expect workingman-like pickup output (they're still the meanest sounding MMK45's I've heard) and just a no nonsense, no frills, in your face slice of Electra pie.

Anyway..... I'm excited! :D

Good job J. Glad it will be in the hands of one of our forums.

Give us a review after you've played it a few times - and pics please.

Congratulations!

:D Nice! Just what I was hoping for! Quite aggressive. Better than average sustain. I've already cleaned and tightened the pots, straightened out the MPC switches and snugged up the MPC cover. Naturally the strings need changing and the nut also needs to be glued. I can't tell if the Grovers are stock or not but this is the third set I have on SLM guitars and are probably my all time favorite tuners - so no complaints on that score. All the hardware is in really nice shiny condition, frets will look new after only a polishing. Looks like a factory supercharge. Aside from being a little neglected and the slice of the finish gone, it's really in vg to exc shape. This is a keeper so I'm going to go ahead and repair the finish today. The case is original and easily the best condition of the ones I've had. :D
