Nice to see you back man. It's definitely a X935, but I've never seen that color before... I don't think it's a 'cs'. Seller describes it as charcoal Grey, but it looks almost red in the photos. I can't really see the front too well, and know from experience that a flash will do a number on colors and contrast of the sunburst, so without better photos it's tough to tell what color it really is. My guess is that it's a X935 (fairly plain maple top) with a stock Blackburst (or Transblack) that just didn't photograph that well, there is a possibility it is a different stain or paintjob, we need better pics.

It was made in June 1983, just like OUR Endorser's. I'd like to take a peek under the bridge pickup, I bet it's a 48 body from Mats. and it would be worth asking the seller if he has the sales slip, says he bought it new.

The pictures are pretty lame, no close ups of the front (probably trying to not call attention to the holes from the Synth Pickup), and the headstock closeups blow, I can't even see the number of layers in the binding. It has the push/pulls, gold hardware, tiny fret markers... its' a X935. I would be surprised if they made 500 total X935's and X935cs's as the seller claims this 'Limited Edition' production was. I don't think he's trying to deceive anyone, just the way he remembers it from a quarter century ago.

The more I look at the pics, with all the flash shadow and blur, I think its a stock blackburst and the cheap camera is playing with the colors and accentuating the sunburst.

Gotta love that the seller is in Missouri, that's where my Blackburst came from, original owner also... these midwest guys never get rid of their first nice guitar!! Don't know what the reserve is, my herd is pretty thick right now, so I'm gonna pass.

How'd that X260n turn out..? Would love to hear about it. Just bought a X250 that's turning out to be a real burner, I'm sure you've seen the forum post. Cheers, Mike.

Mike,

Yeah I think you are right. It's most likely a Blackburst. I had the seller send me some more pics. I've been looking for one of these so I'm gonna bid on it. Too bad about the holes though. I'll ask him if he has the reciept of purchase that would be interesting to see.

Regarding the X 260n. It's a very nice guitar. Very pretty natural finish, it has a worn in feel and look. Plays nice and sound great through a tube amp. She's a keeper. The tunners are original, as is the Nut and PUP's. Not a bad snag if I do say so myself.

Lars (rockn' in wisconsin) :D

I just noticed that the auction title has 'Addition' as opposed to 'Edition'... wonder if that is some subliminal advertising ploy for all of us out there with Acquisition Syndrome!

I'm surprised that he had it refretted, those 80's frets are huge and should have been tall enough to be dressed down a few times before replacing. You may want to request close ups of the fretboard to see if the installer did a hack job on the fingerboard and binding.

Seller says there are two holes for the synth pickup, which are visable between the bridge and pickup, but there should be one or two other holes from the mounted jack also, I think I see a big one about an inch from the edge behind the volume/tone pots. All of these should be able to be filled, and with a decent color match be almost undetectable from 5 feet away, don't think they could ever be totally masked.

Not sure this is the 'minty' blackburst you've been looking for, but as always, I wish you the best of luck. Anytime you want to come out to Ann Arbor you can play mine! Maybe there's a Physicians convention or seminar at the UofM you could tell your wife you're going to... Take care, Mike.
