This guy must be smokin the same stuff as the guy that said gibson made the electra brands and wanted a grand for his broken LP copy. No way this guitar is that much. Maybe $300 tops if it was all original and perfect. Must be an epidemic of stupidity going around these days.

Still, there was a Daion 335 copy fetched US$1100 yesterday, and a Westone Pantera X390CB for about the same last week, so what do I know?!

That add reads like a Nigerian spam letter. Maybe it's true, but to me he comes off like a total tool.

This guy's description sounds like he's slightly coo-coo. Entertaining though.

Supposedly they made less of the 'Lady' than the other pointy models (I read that somewhere... don't quote me) so it could be argued that they should be worth more, but like the Edsel, the market will dictate what something is worth. Basically looks like the bottom of a White Futura (remember the Red and White Futuras were basically mirror images of each other {although I think there is a slight difference!}) with a symmetrical top.

With that logo on the headstock, I would bet my paycheck that the build date is between May and August of 1983 (305 to 308 first three digits of serial number), not that that really makes any difference. Even though the bridge is probably an upgrade (not a big Vintage Trem fan) and it seems to be a fairly clean example, without a case I wouldn't pay more than $200 for it.

I agree that the auction is an amusing read, sometimes I think these sellers put on this 'down home' persona to help sell the guitar... not certain if that tactic works though.


I'm feeling better about my Red Futura acquisition, here's a Pearl White one, completely stripped, no case, no tuners, no electronics, no bridge (basically nothing but the neck and body) for more than I paid for the APII I traded for the Red one with a case missing only the electronics and back covers:

I have a feeling he won't get the $150 he's asking, and I almost talked myself into it because its only 130 numbers from the red one, made the same month... but I would be looking at probably $200 in parts and labor to make it playable, and it still wouldn't have a case (and would still be pretty beat up). Still, it would be cool to see a pair side by side someday. Mike.
