Well I contacted the seller and he doesn't know if he wants to ship or not. So if anyone else out there is interested, it looks to be in pretty good shape and from his emails it is.

It seems to have the output jack on the front, though - my LX has it on the side, a lá LP... ??

My understanding from doing a search is that the jack moved to the side in 1986. Maybe yours is a late year 85? Here is another 85 with the jack on the front:

This page at the westone site also has one with a jack in front. The x189's also have the jack in front.

Well well well... here's mine which has a s/n starting 505... so it's an 85, possibly May...

... in fact according to this from the 86 catalogue, it seems to be arbitrary with the X198 having the jack on the front and the side!!!

Regardless of that, the one you've pointed out looks good and is very reasonably priced indeed! They are a superb guitar with a dizzying array of tonal possibilities...

Haha. Interesting. I wonder what the determining factor was as to where they placed the jack? Day of the week? I think I will need to find another as I don't think he'll ship. They seem to show up often enough though and seem to be undervalued. I'm sure I can find another at a decent price. The wife would kill me anyway.

Then don't tell her!!! :D They probably turn up more regularly in the US; they're a bit thin on the ground both here in Europe and in Australia/New Zealand!! Good luck man!!
