There is something up here. Don't get me wrong, I have an even earlier 2238wc that I really love, but I paid about one tenth of that... The seller really lays it on thick in the auction text, maybe someone was hypnotized by his smooth talkin'. The knobs aren't correct, and something is up with the fret markers and I can't even tell if that is the original bridge because it doesn't have the 'coke bottle' waist to it.

There are set-neck semi hollows that have languished on eBay for months for less than that, and this thing sells in about an hour for $1300?? I call balderdash!

The Blond 2248wc was more original, in better condition, still had the serial number sticker and went for about a third what the black one supposedly sold for... which would you rather have? Five bills is still more than I'd like to shell out for one of these, but at least it's in the ballpark. There was a 2270 (Brown Thinline with black pickguard) at a music store for $550 last year that I just couldn't bring myself to buy, but who knows where the prices are headed on these.

I still think this is a typo or some kind of shenanigans going on... Mike.

I don't believe it either. If you look at the completed listing there is no bid history. I think it was either sold privately or we'll see it again.
