This one started out at 500 when I first saw it and earlier today had already neared 700. Is there anyway to tell from the pictures if it is a 2289 mono, 2289 stereo or a 2229 stereo?

Seller states it is stereo I believe but I agree that I would need to see jacks to be certain. This one gonna go Big I think.

2289 Stereo. all the neck-thru ones were stereo. the bolt neck ones were mono.

http://www.indysworld.com/guitars/Electra/corsair/

the pics on my page of this model are actually of this same bass, from when it was purchased on eBay last time...
it's the one version I haven't had... though I am the high bidder at the moment... not sure how much longer I can stay in...

If there's interest, I'd sell mine for 1100.00 shipped with new tweed hardcase. It's in great shape with only adhesive staining around some of the binding and a few binding cracks. I actually NEVER play it....just look at it once in a while. Here's pics.

it's a beauty!

Image

the one on the right is this one. the one on the left is what I have termed as the "variant" on my web page, but in my further research, the tuners it has are the common ones I've found on the phoenix basses, so I believe it to be an 80's made model, and both have various items that are slightly different, and some conform to "real" specs. varies for each one.

:x :x Looks like another raid of the ebay police and those Rick Police again. That seems a bit on the dumb side as Those other people sell plenty of instruments and they are still worried about the little bitty Electra brands. I take that as a compliment to the quality of the Electra Bass .

McB, did you get the one from the auction that was deleted or did you get JD's? You just need a picture with my 2278 mono bolt neck next to those two.

JD's is a neck thru maple. :)

The deal with RIC isn't about the brands or qualities. even the craptastic hondo fakers are pulled. it's all about protecting their trademarked designs. by law, they have to actively pursue any trademark violations, else they risk losing the trademark. amongst the things trademarked, are the headstock shape, pickguard shape, truss rod cover shape, body shape...

basically, you can't use images of their designs or their name in commerce to sell something they did not create. that's why it's a violation. it's not illegal to own one, and it's not illegal to build your own copy.

it all about protecting intellectual property rights...

there are literally hundreds of discussions about this on many different message boards...

Just to clarify, Ric is protecting their intellectual property. If you go after some people but not others you can be said to have abandoned the rights. However, Ric goes over the top. They claim that saying something is not just a copy but "Ric style", "like a Ric" etc. They think they have rights to any use of the name Ric. This is not true. However, e-bong has decided it is not worth their time or money to litigate. I have seen adds pulled for saying "better than a Ric." That is absurd and I would not buy one of their products.
