http://www.ebay.com/itm/VANTAGE-VE-565-Entertainer-CUSTOM-BIGSBY-Matsumoku-Japan-Electric-Guitar-/190619462640?pt=Guitar&hash=item2c61ce2bf0

I've been keeping my eye out for these lately and surprisingly, one showed up quicker than I figured it would. I can't fathom keeping a Bigsby on it though. I wouldn't want to deal with constantly re-tuning it, and I prefer the stock look (by a mile).

I have a feeling this thing won't go cheap, but I might try to get in on it til it goes out of my price range. I'm wondering what anyone thinks about removing the Bigsby? Looks like it could leave some hideous damage possibly....If it's easy to remove and leaves minimal mounting scars, I think this baby would be beautiful! A really neat model IMO. Looks much more comfortable than a 335 (got some rotator cuff issues here).

The Bigsby is an abomination on most guitars (I HATE them). It is particularly offensive on the Entertainer. The studs for the tailpiece are still there and the seller says no screws were used to mount the thing so it might be OK. I'd say go for it.

Thanks guys, I was thinking it might be worth a shot and now I'm feeling a little better about giving this one a stab.

Very nice, i say go for it! I love the Vantages, they made some of the best and most beautiful semi hollow bodies out there. Gorgeous top, and its pretty cool that they used a custom metal mount to attach the Bigsby as not to mess up the guitar. Looks like it mounts to the bridge posts and strap screw. Good luck with that beauty, and if you do win it get that UGLY Bigsby off and post some pics of her in her full glory!

I like Bigsby's on the right guitar. This one isn't it. Good luck with the auction and restoration.

Sorry to report Jay, but I already am bidding on this one as well. I will stick with it awhile yet too.

If you are truly serious about it though shoot me a pm. I do not want us competing just to drive the price up.

Not I.

The possibility of damage to the finish was too great for me to justify staying with it. My jazzbox is out there, I just haven't run across it yet

agreed.

I just couldn't bring myself to risk the cash on it at this point in the year. That Bigsby looks like it had to have done some damage. If you zoom in on one of the pics it looks like there's a finish crack possibly coming out from under the Bigsby. It may be a shadow, but with 3 pics I wasn't gonna risk it.

Hope the buyer eventually hops on here to post some info about the Bigsby/removal situation. I'd love to know how that works out.
