Well this one is different for certain. Has been moded also I think as it has extra switches somewhat like the Betts model. What caught my eye was the natural maple neck on this model. All I have seen had the usual rosewood fretboard. This is a nice one and is different with the mods for certain. Also the TRC is what looks like brass or gold plate also. Most like a modded Electra but still a nice one. 8)

Well this one is unusual to say the least and it intrigued me to ask for pics. It is a set neck version of the X210 and the tuners have been changed out and replaced with ping tuners. The neck is indeed a natural maple front but looks to be black on the back I think. Interesting and my egas is curious now to say the least.

:eek2: :-? Going to be tough to curb the egas on this one I think. The more I look the more curious I become with this one.

Well guess that means my egas does not win this round. I was getting close to pulling the trigger on this one but was pondering the scratch/cracked area around the three way switch cover I was thinking maybe it suffered a tumble and that was what btoke the tip on 3 way switch and scratched the back but could not tell from the pics. Looks to be OK. Let us know JD I am betting that maple necl will play great.

Condition not withstanding, there are things on here we've never seen 1) Maple Fretboard on a X210 2) brass or gold plated truss rod cover (with logo and slm emboss) 3) interesting engraving on control cavity cover. Like I said yesterday, I'm not interested, but it's a unique guitar and conversation piece.

Hey Joe....I had to buy this one twice. The seller's registered eBay email address and his registered PayPal ID weren't the same, so the PayPal payment didn't go through. He corrected all and I sent the second payment after the first transaction was cancelled at PayPal and eBay.

Just a little problem....his choice to relist. He's a very nice fella.

I found another with the same electrical configuration. Looks like (so far) all I'll need are knobs and machines to get her back to near original. I'm thinkin that this guitar was a gold plate gift for someone at one time. I'll be able to figure out more when I get my big hands on it.

Good snag JD. Did the seller offer any background or history on it? Would love to know what the initials on the control cover stand for. Maybe Tom can chime in on the Maple Fretboard..? Never seen a brass Pineapple truss rod cover. Interesting stuff.

He sent me more pics also and it has a beauty of a fretboard in natural maple but no fret markers at all.

Hey JD,after seeing Arthur's pics of the fretboard up close and the truss rod cover, etc. I would bet a dime to a dollar this was a presentation piece to an SLM employee, salesman or big wig.
The TRC and fretboard looks factory from pics,I don't think you could just special order woods and appointments for a one-off total run of one......you might have a real goodun' thar
I'm sure Tom P. would know of any other examples if there are any-if I had seen those closeups Arthur posted,I would have snapped that one up quick. Please post some pics when you get it,and my wife thanks you for beating me to it :D
Joe

Got it yesterday.....action is fantastic, neck is arrow straight, frets are small and level....holdin up to my 008's wonderfully. Birdseye fretboard is original to the guitar. I switched the black metal knobs to some similar gold toned ones I had around (looks better). Sounds absolutely great after reheatin a cold solder joint on the ground side. Cleaned it up a bit and grabbed some photos.

See my link immediately below to find the guitar (X-210) listed there with link to more photos.

Lovin this one folks.....I have an inquirey into SLM. I don't expect anything but head scratchin though.

Good luck with getting anything out if SLM, JD.

I have sent emails on two seperate occasions to them, once on A Westone and another on Electra. Both times got one reply of "I will look into it and get back to you." Then... nothing.

Tried second inquiries and even a third one on the Westone to no avail. Perhaps your wiley charms will win them over.
