Interesting tailpiece which I'm guessing is not original.

Wow, either there are a LOT of interested buyers on the board or none. I checked the spreadsheet and it doesn't add up so far. This isn't my guitar for sale so I'm not pushing anything. I'm unfortunately out of the Electra hollow body ownership thing right now.

Hey Sandspur, good to hear from you again man. The price is very reasonable, but that add-on vibrato on the stop tailpiece posts scared me off. Those posts were not meant to be yanked on, and while the semi's have a block down the center I still think it could spell trouble down the road. I predict a flurry of snipe bids at auction end.

Pro,

Thanks, good to hear from you too. I have been lurking but haven't been posting for awhile. I've been busy with some other things. I agree with the flurry of bids at the end. I looked at the sales spreadsheet and this one is low at this point.

Not bad at $847 total if there are no issues with the inserts. That is a low price according to the spreadsheet.

Hey-I am the Lucky winner! now the fun begins,I owned a maple Pro(2nd owner) that I sold and have regretted doing so for a couple of years. I have been wanting to own a ES 335 but cant justify buying a new one for$2-3000 bucks when the Electra's are every bit as playable and well crafted. Even after replacing the bridge, stop bar, tuners(if needed) and getting my tech to set it up-I will still be a couple grand under a 335

Welcome hydro and congratulations. If you are looking aftermarket for the bridge pieces I would give TonePros a look-see. The quality is very good and the string spacing of their ABR replacements are very close.

the bridge replacement doesn't appear to be as hard to locate as the stop bar tailpiece which is what i would like to be steered towards by some upstanding forum member! Also couldnt tell by the sellers photos-does this model have a brass nut(not a fan) and are the f holes bound with the tortoise shell binding as well as the body?

I don't think you'll have a problem with the tuners.

I've had to replace some stop tailpieces on different Electras and have used the standard metric ones. I've had occasion where I've had to use the new inserts or just used the ones that were already there.

The fact that this had an aftermarket tailpiece placed on it makes me think that swapping in another will be fairly easy, just buy one with posts. Guitarfetish has some nice machined brass stop tailpieces that are fairly inexpensive and work very well. Here's one:

If you need to remove the inserts, the video below shows a very easy method:

That would be a no-no on the brass nut and a yes-yes-yes on the f-holes being fully bound. A few pics of my wife's x410 are towards the end of this thread...

Easily the finest build quality of any of the Electras to be found around this house... or most any house for that matter.

No doubt about that! THE most beautiful one I've ever seen. I am blessed beyond measure that I get the opportunity each day to gaze in love and adoration at her...

...and the guitar is very pretty as well.

Good one Ice. Feel the same way about my wife. Love my instruments but none are quite that lovely.
