Is this a PCM badge on a real wave headstock or is it a PCM neck that has been cut into a wave?

IMO, it's a real SLM wave neck that has been refinished, and they added either a new PCM logo (looks a bit bigger than the vintage ones I think), or reused one from an old beater....

I agree that is looks like a PCM neck maybe from an SG model but the badge logo looks like an older one as the one I have is not that large on the headstock so may be an add on to a PCM X style logo headstock.

They stripped the black finish of the neck and back of the headstock but left it on the front. I think it is a PCM neck with a wave. I remember seeing on like it before. Now fi only I can remember where.

I also once saw a wave with similar badge on an SG.....do I gather correctly the wave was normally only on SLM models ??

The only PCM I've seen with a Wave has been the Mandolin, and that was becasue the wave has been around for decades on Mandolins and Beatle Bass originals and copies.

I still think this one was a SLM neck stripped and a PCM style logo applied.
