Someone has a blackburst endorser on Reverb right now that has the anniversary model plate with the serial #1 on the plate. Pretty neat. Actual guitar has a painted number on it as well (as is how these were done). But I don't know if there is a 1 for each model type or not for the Anniversary models or not.

That one is owned by our forum member Dave_g. If someone really wants it I would PM him directly and maybe you could get a better deal. He hasn't been posting here in a while but I see him pop up on a Facebook page once in a while.

You know, if I had a number #1 on mine, I'd want a lot for it too! But that is more than I ever paid or seen for one, but then again I have not seen a number 1! When it comes to something like that to a collector it is hard to say what it is worth, so I withdraw my comment on price.

There were 500 anniversary badges made up for all models. There was only 1 number one badge. I am lucky enough to have a very round number (200) on my X135C

Serial number starts with December of 1981, I thought they started making the Blackbursts in mid 1982, so this is new information, and probably the earliest Endorser made for sale (Seller dates it as a 1983...). Condition is listed as Excellent, which with the chips, dings and changed nut seems a bit optimistic. I saw a really clean cherry sunburst once sell for a grand, so who knows. Bragging rights only go so far, but after watching the Mecum car auction last weekend, I know there are people out there with more money than wisdom! Cheers, Mike.

Yes, I had one that was in a lot better condition. Mine was close to perfect. It was a few years ago now (three?). But I didn't get anything near that. Prices haven't gotten any better lately that I have seen. But I have seen a lot of optimistic prices out there. I don't recall what number mine was. It was a very fine guitar. Wish I still had it (you all have heard me say that many times).

I still have the flamey one I got from you. If anybody else winds up with that, it is because I am dead or dying. I have nearly every other guitar in my collection that will go first :D

Thorny,

If it was the one I sold you it was #0059. That was a REALLY nice guitar!

Yes, it was wonderful. I had to sell it between jobs, so I had it only too short of a time. It went to a close friend that talked me out of it. Great guitar. Wish I had it back. It was remarkable. But sometimes you have to be thankful that you have something you can sell when you need to. I had many really nice guitars I sold. But I still have a few nice ones too. I got a really nice Dickie Betts model that reminds me of it (it isn't nearly as original or perfect, but still a good guitar). It is close but not the same.
