David, A.K.A. stracalaf has made some major updates to the Westone Site, and has now set up new forums!

Since David's site is now the most extensive and complete Westone archive on the web the forums here will be phased out in favor of those on the westone site. Unfortunately the thread here cannot be imported into the forums on the Westone site but will remain here as an archive and record. When the switch is complete this forum here will be locked as read only.

Drop in and create an account for yourself on the new forums. I suspect it will become quite popular in no time.

Hats off to all the hard work and time David has put into making his site the ultimate Westone resource on the web!

The time has come to direct the Westone forum traffic to the new Official Westone Forums

Again, a big THANKS and Hat's Off to David for all the hard work!

The name Westone has been used by four different distributors- by Matsumoku as its 'house brand'; by SLM as a replacement for the Electra brand on SLM-designed guitars made by Matsumoku; by a modern British firm, and by yet another modern firm which now uses the name on its entry-level imported guitars.

The Westones that get mentioned here at the Electra site are mainly the second category, the 'SLM Westones', as they are one and the same as the Phoenix/Dynasty family. For all the others, the dedicated Westone forum community can best help.

Hats off to the Westone forum and community for doing a great job of representing all the Matsumoku and SLM Westones! It's natural that each different community may overlap its interest with other groups and forums, that provides a natural flow of information for everyones' interest. We suggest you visit them all!

There is also an active Westone mailing list on yahoogroups, mostly devoted to the 'Matt Westones' which were mostly available to the european market, though they also get a number of the SLM Westones, mostly Spectrums, which were sold to that market in 85-86.
