Hello All! Been lurking about this fine establishment for awhile now, and thanks to your very own Thorny (thanks again, John) I became the proud owner of an x310 a couple weeks back. I now see what all the fuss is about these instruments!

Anyway - on to my question. The x310 I have has one knob that doesn't match the rest. It looks to be a black gibson speed knob. The white lettering isn't as pronounced as the other three, and if you flip it over, it does not have the imprint of the numbers on the bottom side like the other three. Now, I'm not super concerned about everything being 'original', as the bridge has been replaced as well, but it would be cool if all four knobs matched.

So what I'm wondering is, does anyone know where I can find a matching knob? Or would I be better off just getting a set of four Gibby speed knobs and call it good?

Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your replies.

Keep Rockin!

Any clear pic of what you want to match? I've got a bunch in the basement, help me narrow it down...

Are these knobs round and smooth like a Gibson speed knob, or are they knurled with indentations?

If the former, I'd use an Allparts replacement (remember, imports have coarse splines, Gibsons have fine splines, so if you force it on there it won't fit completely and you risk damaging the shaft. It's hard to tell by looking, but Allparts have coarse import splines.

If it's the knurled kind, PM me, I have some extras that are 97% correct.

These are the round smooth ones like a Gibson speed knob. I hear what your saying about the splines, the one knob that doesn't match the rest doesn't fit very well either, kinda loose on the shaft, but then the shaft 'halves' are squeezed together too...

I'll try and get a couple of pictures up this evening...

I found a picture off an ad on ebay for an outlaw guitar. It has the same knobs as my x310.

And here's a pic of the x310 that I have. You'll notice that the bottom knob is slightly different. The top three match.

Hope that helps. If you need some clearer pics, I can snap a couple when I get home from work.

Thanks!
