This thread is for our other favorite guitars, the ones that aren't necessarily Electra or vintage or whatever. For me first of all, I'm a musician, a player. I play jazz and anything else I want, basically.

My Number One electric is this Gibson standard Vee, an '01. If I'm onstage, plugged in with a band or at a jam, this is the guitar I'll be playing.

It's really an outstanding Vee. I love Vees but this one is special. The moment I played it I could tell, it was extraordinarily resonant, with very very good neck and action. It's a big mahogany tunig fork, basically. Vees are special mojo, no kidding, the shape matters and the tone is great for jazz and blues as well as rock or whatever.

Whenever I go to a big guitar store I play the Vee (cause they always have one cause everyone loves them but nobody wants to stand up with them) and none of them are as nice as my Vee. Gibsons really do vary, some are dull and some are vibrant and this one is the best Vee I've found. Plus as usual I've gotten really attached to it.

Standard Vees are red with a white pickguard, but that's way too varsity looking for me. I removed the original pickguard and wiring and mounted the original ceramic humbuckers on a new abalone pikguard with custom wiring options.

The knobs are standard Vee V-V-T except the tone knob is a passive mid cut/boost, and there's an additional toggle to set which of the two pickups it applies to. the 3-way is standard except that the two pickups are wired out of phase, so the middle 'both' position is always in quacky phase territory. Both volume knobs are pull-switch pots to coil tap each pickup separately, which I use actually quite a lot. Pull them both out and select both and it's thin and reedy as hell.

This is my main electric axe although I have a couple of strong teles too. I'll post those soon too.

Post your favorite playing guitars here! (yes, even the strats!)

That abalone makes this the prettiest V I have ever seen! Very impressive work!

So purty... nice, P! Mine is my old Vantage VA900, bought new in 1980 and gigged without back-up for 25+ years. I've only got this pic of it as it is now in storage awaiting a major move, but I assure you all, it is a monster of a guitar!!

..ain't that just the ducks' nuts?! And I've got to say, I was starting to use my 2nd Westone Clipper a bit, too, before the storage thing...

... I liked the tele vibe and the locking trem; it's a pretty versatile little guitar.
