Here is one of the latest River City amp builds, a prototype that I made for a friend that is doing a guitar build in exchange for me. This is my take on a hodrodded 50w Marshall master volume amp - large transformers, point to point wiring on a custom turret board, 2xEL34s as you expect. It is truly no-frills tone. The only real option on it is a push/pull mid/lead boost that throws you out front of the mix. I could have done better really, as I adapted the chassis from another amp and made a faceplate. But this was not really intended to be a production item - it is a "one off." The cabinet was originally all black and I thought it was too much black and looked generic. I had some of this obnoxiously bright red tolex sitting here so I changed the front and rear panels into the red so it will be noticed. The back is all vented, as is the top (and the bottom). The back is nothing but a power plug and an output for each speaker ohm tap (2, 4, 8, 16 ohms). I thought given the nature of it, the color fit the sound. It is HOT, maybe not quite in the Bogner Uberschall or Mesa triple rec hot, but it is hot in the old school marshall where you still hear the notes hot. It is loud for a 50w. It has the AC/DC sort of GRIND that puts a smile on your face (at least to me). I took it to my builder bud, and he took the day off and was gone. So I guess I get it for a few more days. Anyhow - here it is! Don't laugh too hard. Wait if picture is slow to load. |

Very nice work. Bet it Rocks. I like the old simple amps also. I just picked up a 1969 MK II Traynor 50W head and cab with 2 15" and it sounds awesome and is simple to use. I just wish it had reverb. he loves the sound he gets out of it with his Outlaw. Got a killer deal on it for $495 and it works great. Great job on the build. Thanks for the pic |

Looking good. Nothing to laugh at and it sounds like it should rock. |
