Power just came back on a few minutes ago. Cathy has been in SW Florida for the past week and due back late tomorrow. She missed all this fun I had.

Lookin at lots of cleanup now. The house pulled through just fine but I lost 4 big oaks. And I had to put up with that dang cranky rottweiler of hers without power, AC, and cooked food for him. Boy...he has it rough when Cathy's not around. In a way losing those nice shade trees will pay off over the next few winters with firewood...and the BIG thing.....that much less dang leaves to have to get up.

Hunkered down still in eastern NC.

Glad to see you are OK. Better to clean up limbs and debris than to clean up a roof etc. Glad to see you weathered the storm. Good Luck and stay safe. Arthur

Power restored here now too. LOTS of flooding in the area. For us, Irene was mostly a rain event. We came through remarkably well - a few limbs down and NO water in the basement.

Too bad about the trees JD - but firewood is also nice. Hope everyone came through OK.

wow those were good sized oaks that came down! Glad none of them found your home! That area is beautiful- I hope the damage wasn't too bad and things soon return to normal. I was living outside Lenoir when Hugo ripped through.

Glad you are OK. My wife and I went from NYC to our place in Vermont thinking it would be better. Well our place in NYC came through just fine. Our corner of Vermont has been hammered. We got over 14" of rain in under 14 hours. There is a lot of flooding with roads and bridges out. We had a large maple tree come down across the driveway. After more hours than I would like to count (and more blisters) I got through it with a hand saw. I am asking for a chain saw for my birthday this year :D

Any way we are OK and the roads back to NY should be open tomorrow. I hope all others faired as well or better.
