What does anyone know about these things? Are they as good as their big brother? I have a line on one here for about A$300......

I don't know about the price but the amp is basically the JC120 with 10 watts less power. The 120 has 2 60watt power amps so the 120 running into a single channel will end up very close in sound to the JC50 and it's still portable. Of course you won't have the "stereo" effect which to me is pretty minimal in speakers set about an inch apart. The amps are known for excellent chorus and clean headroom. They are also reputed to have a nice trem and take pedals very well and I would rate that a big plus. Good Luck!

I've never met a Roland I didn't like....even the cubes sound great. The JC50 is a great amp. Lots of folks prefer the warmth and breakup of tubes over depth of clarity that solid state amps bring, but I prefer clear as a bell tones. I can muddy with outboard effects if desired. In my opinion...Rolands are the bomb.

I think the price is about standard for these....patience will bring you a better deal, but all that time you'll spend lookin could be better spent playing that one.

Thanks, lads... It's in a pawn shop here and I may have a tilt at it! As for playing, well, none of my gear has made it here from the UK yet anyway.....
