That is a quote from Tom Presley over at the Westone forum regarding the Pantera X350MA with the Bendmaster Deluxe trem which I just aquired - I already have the hardtail version of the 350.

I figured since he is an SLM guy and a fan around here I would post this here as well. I know there are quite a few folks on both forums so for the Westone guys just igonore :).

Tom's Westone post:
"Frankly, these were made at my request for personal use. I wanted the maple, but not the Kahler. Since I couldn't mod the maple body without destroying them, and not wanting to hand build one, I did the next best thing, I ordered 6 culled from the MA run and had the Bendmaster installed at the factory! Long story short, b4 I could get mine set up, we ended up selling them to dealers at our Expo. I did make one other production run of 6 more and I don't really know how many of this batch ended up in the US since every one was grabbed by either fans at stores or collectors. My opinion ... maybe the best electric ever made.."

No comments? Is it because TP stated a Westone is perhaps better than all other SLM guitars? :) Just teasing folks - I know there are plenty of Electras that are 'almost' as good :)

In the end, I know it is all up to each individual to decide what is the 'best'.

My Best is an 84 strat. After that my 2 PRS's. After that, My 350MA hard tail, X390 & my Jazz Strad are tied. And then too tough and too many to go beyound that.

I just thought it was an interseting comment from TP who I think we all respect.

Hmmmmm.... Maybe because " the best electric in the world" is quite a statement, even from TP!! :D

Oddly, the X350/390 vibe doesn't happen for me; I have an X300 which is very nice but "my best electric" is my Vantage VA900, because I gigged it for 30 years with no backup, and I suspect it will be the same for most players.

I can see where TP was coming from, though; the X350 looks to be the consummate player but I do wonder about anything with a Bendmaster Deluxe being preferred over a Kahler?! Bendmaster FT, mmmm, yeah, maybe....

This is an open ended subject as each player has an opinion on the best ever made. I am certain that this one is very nice indeed and since he did have them done for himself he must have liked them very much as it seemed the dealers also like them to. I would be willing to keep her for some time to play and attest to the fact that it is a very nice model indeed.lol I leave this one characterization up to each individual players preference. it is indeed a very nice Axe. Just my two cents worth. Arthur aka mortarman120gang11c

As for myself I think it depends on my mood and the type of music I'm playing. I was diggin on some tunes last night and I was going between my LP, Strat, and my 280. Even had the Sheraton and Parkwood Hybrid on standby just in case. Each of the guitars that I have has a strong point of their own. Thought I would throw my two cents in there if anyone cares.

Hmmmm, Freudian slip?..... I think not. :-?

As shocking as this might come to you guys it is true nontheless...

For all the love my wife has for her Electras and Westones (and there is a HUGE amount of love there) she still has not changed her will instructing which of her guits she is to be buried with. That distinction still belongs to her '69 LPC Black Beauty. And that is true I am certain mostly to what was stated above twice now, it is the axe that she has grown up with and gigged exclusively (without backup as well, John) for all those years she was actively cutting her teeth, jamming, performing... earning her chops.

She has or has had several dead serious loves in her life; God, parents, child, me, her Les Paul, dot-dot-dot.

I am fairly certain she loves me more than that guitar, but only fairly.
