Anyone have any experience with any Revs? I'm smitten by/gassing for the Buckshot model. Specifically the pictured guitar. I'm thinking it would be a pretty darn versatile axe. I can't seem to find a bad word about any Reverend guitar.

The guitarist in one of my bands plays two Revs, a Club King and a Six Gun. Plays them hard and often. The man's an amazing guitarist who knows his gear and says he loves them. That says a lot to me. Build quality is great and the sound is spot on. Go for it Jead!

Although he did replace the tele pickup in his Six Gun to a strat pickup. He said the tele pickup sounded a little sterile to his ears.

I think I NEED the guitar since I only have single coils in my X140. Never had and fitertron type pups either unless you count the fitertron-ish Rickenbacker pickups. The clips I've heard of the Buckshot with the bass contour control sound really good to me. Pretty pronounced mids which I think a guitar ought to have. Rolling off the contour does not seem to thin the tone at all it just seems to pull out some low end but still sounds full. I'm trying my best to justify buying ....... Help me out.

Well this would be a fun guitar for your stable, think of the versatility as well.

What if you'd find one used somewhere? Would be cheaper. And you could always sell it along if you don't like it!

OK here is a rational for you. Buy buying it you'd be supporting a relatively new brand that appears to be putting out interesting, quality guitars. Sound like a brand that ended some 20+ years ago that we like?

The one I bought looks just like the pictured one. I gather the earliest models offered the 3 color sunburst but the new ones are solid or clear finish. Also, the new ones have a belly cut - the mahogany models, because of the chambering did not. I've read that the Korina's have chambering also read that they don't - who knows? I'll let you all know what I think once it arrives.

One word review would be WOW!

I am honestly stunned at the quality of this guitar at it's price level - Simply amazing. I can't find a single flaw in the build quality. Frets are perfectly dressed, binding on top and fretboard is well done. The knobs and 3 way feel solid and work smoothly and silently. The burst finish is also a thing of beauty. I can't say if i like the Wilkinson ez-lok tuners yet but I can say that the guitar stays in tune even after fierce bends. Personally, I like the shape and it's comfortable even without a bellycut on my production year (2007). Something of a shock to me is the 7lb 7oz weight. It certainly feels more substantial, but my scale is good so.... very manageable weight. Nice graph tek nut cut deeper than it needs to be, flat white position inlays and a very nice feeling rosewood fingerboard. No skimping on the stopbar and bridge either - bith appear to be solid good quality components.

I haven't opened up the control cavity for the bass contour but I'd bet it's a pretty simple cap setup in there. The vol, tone and 3 way are under a standard tele type cover and I suspect that cavity is shielded in either paint or foil tape. Haven't opened it either.

The pickups are both pretty hard to pin down - they look like a filtertron and a tele bridge and are supposed to perform like they look - but with a twist. They do it too. Neither are run of the mill knock off types - they both are pretty unique to my ears. The bridge is not as nasal or shrill as a lot of tele bridges but is still capable of a real nice twang and can quack like a strat too. The Revtron can get dirty as hell and clean up nicely too. The real secret to mixing these two disparate pickups has to be in the bass contour control. I can't even begin to describe the range that control supplies. You really owe it to yourself to try out one of these BCC equipped guitars.

Once in a while I come across a guitar that seems to make me a better player - riffs I have trouble with on most other guitars just seem to fall into place with the Reverend. That makes me happy. So I give this guitar very high marks across the board. It's a little early for me to say with certainty but it sure seems like this one is going to be my number 1 axe.

I used to have a reverend Rocco when they were made in Eastwood, MI - in the 90s - and it was fantastic. Joe Naylor designs those, and he only makes good stuff as far as I am concerned (Reverend guitars and amps, Naylor amps before that, and recently Railhammer pickups - like to try them sometime).
