I saw this while perusing Yes videos… It's in gleaming white, the best shot is at about 1:22. I don't think this was marketed, but who knows. I wonder how heavy it was with the big headstock? Also that tiny Flying Vee looks like a one off. Enjoy!

The Spectrum 12 was a one-off specially made for Trevor Rabin, and apparently he still has it and uses it!

One of the Westone lads is building a replica of this very guitar using a Spectrum LX body and a hand built neck; it looks very good to date!

On a personal note, as much as I like the Vantage electric 12s - I have had the opportunity of playing the VA 912 and the VS696-12, and they are very, very good indeed - I'd happily kidnap Trevor Rabin if it meant I could get my hands on this one....

Jack; here's a Phoenix/Spectrum you ain't gonna get!!

Ah, that would be me building the replica. Here's where I'm at to this point:

Image

I started a couple of years ago with a red Electra\Westone body that I bought from a member on here ( the name escapes me at the moment).

I filled the trem cavities and refinished it in white (obviously) and I built the neck from scratch. This is the first neck I built from scratch. It's a 3 piece maple with truss rod and 2 carbon fiber rods, but I did not make the neck angle correct for a TOM type bridge. I have some ideas on how to correct it, and then its just doing the electronics.

Unfortunately (for this guitar), I have jumped into building my own guitars from scratch so this one kinda got pushed out of the way. I promise to finish it at some point, but have a few builds I need to complete first.

If you are interested, the project link is here: http://forum.westoneguitars.net/t3467-rabin-spectrum-12-string-replica?highlight=spectrun+12+string

Nice build! Please keep us in the loop. I guess I'm a little late to the Rabin party… he must be a big guy because it looks pretty small when he's playing it. Too bad they didn't produce the model, although Rickenbacker seems to have a hold on the electric twelve market. Thanks for posting.

I conversed with Tom P about it and he said he thinks they made 3 of these. One of which was more of a fender 12 string type bridge that he believes David Gilmour received although I've never seen a pic with him playing it.
