Just became the new owner of an Omnifex 708HM Metal Max distortion pedal. Not sure of exact vintage. I do realize that Electra had a 608 HM distortion pedal at some point (early '80's?).
Would the 4-digit serial number be a clue to determining the year made?
At any rate, this pedal is in excellent condition. Sound's fantastic and it record's nicely. It is now my main distortion for any rock/metal/doom I play and record :D
BTW I am a newbie. Glad to be here!

Not sure of the years, sorry.

There was the 500 series followed by the 600 series, both branded Electra. The Omnifex range used 700 series model numbers, but looks pretty much like the 600 series. Likely both OEM'd by the same manufacturer.

If you search around you can sometimes identify the same pedals marketed under different brand names. Notice the "related" section on the pages linked above. Generally well made pedals, and some sound as good as other well known classics.

Thank you for the info :)
I see what you mean by the "related" section...Interesting how many different brand names for the same pedals. Was a common thing with many products made in the far east.
