Post subject:  Brand new guitar

Hey guys, well I finally got a brand new guitar. First one since 2009 and only the 5th in my life time. Not a bank buster but enough to get excited about. I had been looking at the Earl Slick SL50 for a while and when I decided to buy it, it was sold out. I waited for ever seems like till I got the email it was back in stock.
Ok, got it for sale price at 200.00, the thing I liked most is it has a lot of things that stick out for the money. The tuner knobs, the volume knob, the toggle switch and the adjustable wrap around bridge are all unfinished brass. Has a Canadian rock maple neck with rose wood fret board and the tuners have bronze gears. The body is swamp ash with a thin coat of automotive black paint that has been distressed. Head stock has a rough look and feel with the neck being unfinished. Pick ups are Earl Slick design with distressed look and sound with the winding.
It came out of the box with it being set up almost perfect. Neck relief, string hieght and intenation all good.

Heres the ad, it tells you most of what I said but it plays and sounds great.

Now it does have a couple things as you would expect from a 200. 00 most likely (very highly likely) chinese guitar, one being the truss rod sticks out enough to leave a dimple in the truss rod cover and the graphite nut is not the best workmanship, had to clean up the frayed material at the slots. I did lower the action just a bit, loosened the strings and lowered the post a little cause the 10s were a little high up the neck but it all moved great and right where I needed it.
Sounds good clean and has the twang with a bit more bite because of the pick ups. It really came to life when I ran it through my Boss 59 fender bassman pedal ( i have a solid state Fender Front Man). Unplugged it has sustain and is pretty loud on its own. It feels great, the finish and neck are comfortable. The wieght is good too. It doesnt kill your shoulder but you can feel it and move with it.
Some of the reviews had mixed complaints but they seem to have been addressed on this run. This was something new and the ads sold me on this. There are video reviews out there also. probably wont find them in stores unless they are used. I'm happy with it.

But anyway, check out the ad and watch the video. For the money its a good little guitar right out of the box.
