I've picked up a couple of Penco branded guitars a few months back-striking similarity to some Electra models. All I know is they were imported by Pennsylvania Music Exchange(Penco) from distributor Hoshino who sourced them from Fujigen,Kasuga and Terrada factories. Production dates '74-'78, then out of business. Strat copy is a dead ringer for the early Electras, Les Pauls as far as I know were all bolt necks-ringers for the 22XX series, different burst styles, etc. I've seen sg copies,lp juniors but can't attest to the quality of those-they did have some high end setneck 335 styles that are highly figured, rare.

Man, you find the coolest stuff Joe! Both of them look incredibly clean for their age. I don't know anything about the Penco brand, but the logos definitely have that fujigen look to them. Maybe X189player could chime in on those. I have a soft spot for defunct guitar companies, best of luck.

Very clean and interesting indeed. Looks like a great guitar as are the Electras. Only variations I see are the colors and paint patterns and a few minor hardware differences. I have never seen or heard of this brand but they look great.

I've got some pics of a Penco branded "corsair bass"...

sounds like they were the "SLM" of the east coast :)

Penco was around here on the east coast when I was a kid. They look like some Univox stuff too.
