Bought these at a yard sale for $15. The red strat copy surprisingly plays and sounds great!! Blew me away actually...
The 12 string acoustic is in rough shape but you can read very faintly on the headstock "Conrad", check out the floating bridge deal on it, I have never seen anything like that.
I did some research on the "State of the Art" and I found a forum where someone said it was from the late 80's and was made in Canada. Have y'all ever heard of that brand? All I know is that guitar plays and sounds awesome! I was pleasantly surprised :D .
I couldn't find anything on the Conrad though. Maybe you guys have seen one before or know something about it.
Check'em out...

Looks like a steal on both counts. The tuners on the strat are dead ringers for early 70's Japanese guitars, but who knows for certain. The trapeze tailpiece is a smart move with a 12 string, not particularly pretty, but it will keep the top from warping (like my vantage 12 string...) because the tension will be on the body, and not the fragile spruce top. congrats.

At least some Conrad guitars were made by Matsumoku. I have seen other Matt 12 strings with a trapeze tail piece.

I think it is more likely that your strat was distributed in Canada than made there. Nice looking guitar. I am a sucker for matching headstocks.

Yeah your are probably right on that. I believe in the thread I was reading the one individual who seemed to know about these guitars did say it was Japanese, from Canada.
That Conrad looks really old but it may just had a hard life lol. It does say Japan on the back of the headstock so I guess it could be a MATT; the only other number on the guitar is 21566 stamped on the inside and you can tell it did have a label on the inside as well, so it may be impossible to find anything out about it.

Kind of a late response, but my research indicates "Conrad" logo'd guitar were MIJ by both Kasuga Tokai and Matsumoku -- here's a great link -- http://torchharrison.hubpages.com/hub/J ... 50-to-1980
