Just picked up a vintage Westbury Deluxe A, I believe is a model W2215A-set neck, solid maple(Les Paul weight),German carve body,Dimarzio Super Distortion and Dual Sound Distortion in bridge, active electronics,6 position Varitone,4 mini switches. Wow! :o
Amazing guitar, apparently very seldom seen-need some retail pricing info, have no prior sales to go by- Help!

You planning on moving it Joe? If so... DON'T DO IT!!!

That right there is a top of the line offshoot label with an association to Unicord's days as a guitar builder... i.e. Univox, if my memory serves. Amazing doesn't really begin to describe it adequately.

There is no way the market is in the right shape right now to get what that thing is worth. The best I can tell you is as follows...

One of the original moderators/creators (Crusty ?) of The Guitar Gallery (AKA the Matsumoku Forums) tried moving his Deluxe model on ebay about 16 or so months back and could not get a bite on a more than reasonable minimum bid for it. I THINK he did end up selling it to a Forum member but I still don't think he got what it was worth... around the 3&1/2 to 4 hundred mark IIRC.

Can we get some pics of the beasty in question?

Pics to come-believe this to be much rarer than the "normal" DeLuxes.......familiar with the brand, seems there might have been a Westone connection at some point-I've never seen this particular model-rocking horse poo maybe?

It would not cross my mind to call any Westbury "normal" or basic. The Standard model is the only type I have personally held and for a "lesser" line model it was absolutely tight and well put together.

A label that Matsumoku built for less than 5 years as I recollect but not many (if any) corners cut during the history of the brand.

Well... it's been at least 2 minutes. What about those pics?!?!?! :hyper:

Mats built/sourced/etc... but no real connection to Westone. Univox was as dead as Julius Caesar by the time Westone had been established as Masumoku's house label.

Here is a link to the no longer maintained Univox site you comedian, you...

http://www.univox.org/guitars/

Yours was made in 1980 only apparently. Westbury's were built from late 1978 to early 1981.

Yup... extremely lovely guit.  Also noticed that you are a redhead, Joe.

That rather neatly tidied up a number of things I'd been wondering about for awhile now

Whoa, that thing is top of the line for Westbury, very nice! I would post it high alert on the Matsumoku site. What a nice guitar!

And gotta say that I'm surprised too, Joe. How do you manage to even play guitar? Beak or talons?

We knew you were cocky, but we didn't really know until now.
