Anyone know anything about these guitars?
I got a little info. But I'm trying to get as much info as I can
before I sell it.

It was a project for my dad and I and he passed 10 years ago
and I just don't have the time for projects at this time.

The 71K is a mid '30s square neck jumbo-pics would help,don't know any value numbers,but a 68k Deluxe Jumbo(Brazilian back and sides,vine inlay,abalone,pearl headstock inlay,etc.) is in the 4-5k range in exc. condition so I would check very thoroughly before selling. Most of these were made by Kay,some by Oscar Schmidt Co. in the '30s

Missing/broken tuning key
Surface scratches
missing 2 bridge pegs
missing strap peg.

Other than that it's a beautiful guitar...

I can't see the back of neck,looks to be rounded (72K)instead of a square neck(71K) or it could be a 68B(jumbo,vine body decoration). Is it stamped 71K somewhere?

It is a square neck. I forgot to get that
in one of the pictures.

And I don't seem to be able to locate a stamp indicating it's a 71 or 72

The picture of the stamp inside and there is a gold sticker
on the head that says the same as the sticker inside the body.
Those are the only stamps I can find.

aint NOOOOO way my guitar is worth this...lol

But I think it's funny that I start questioning about
this guitar and some one post a guitar almost exactly like it.

Only difference is the neck is Round...not square.

It shouldn't be hard to get the bridge pins. There are more and more "vintage correct" pegs available too.

Still don't know much on this getfiddle.

I got an e-mail from a acoustic vintage expert and he ask
me a question I have no clue to be able to check. X-bracing?

I want to get this up on e-bay and try to get rid of it but I don't want to
ask to much. That would be a wasted post.

I've looked at so many. So many variations. But it seems to be coming
down to a 71K. And I found a post claiming the 71K's should exceed $2,000

But I would be safe to say mine in the condition would only be able to go for
around $1,100

I thought about putting some elbow grease into some of the inlay and getting a tuning
key, pegs and throw some strings on it might help the value. Maybe even do a video
playing it. Not sure yet. Looking for feedback.

I will say this...by the time i get done selling both the electra and the OAHU I should
be a pro with all the research i've done....lol

X-bracing is the kind of bracing the top has. The most common are X, fan, and what I think of as tick-tac-toe. X-bracing has two large braces on the underside of the top in the shape of and . Fan bracing has several smaller braces fanning out around the bottom of the sound hole. Tick-tac-toe is most common on carved top guitars and has four braces crossing like a tick-tac-toe game but the lenghtwise ones are longer than the cross ones. Just reach inside the guitar and feel around. You should be able to tell.

Wow thank you for that great info. Learn something everyday. I never knew that's
how they built acoustic in different ways.

I bet that affects the sound and loudness of the guitar. Bass treble and more. Fantastic.

I reached inside. And it seems like the bars go straight across..so that would be ladder then.

I wonder if this would affect the worth of the guitar?

Can't find a forum for OAHU or kay guitars. Don't know if I want to put this on e-bay or not.

Check more than one brace. Some guitars have X-braces and one just below the sound hole.
